IEA's key milestones in the pathway to net zero
Very interesting summary picture from IEA with key milestones in the pathway to net zero.
- No new coal plants and oil & gas fields for new developments starting from 2021
- No new sales of fossil fuel boilers from 2025
- Majority of global car sales are electric and all new buildings are zero-carbon-ready from 2030
- No new ICE car sales from 2035
- Phase-out of all unabated coal and oil power plants from 2040
- 50% of heating demand met by heat pumps
Obviously, this is just a road map but trends are obvious and will be followed by governments, businesses and financial organisations.
